Rohan Bopanna and his Canadian partner Gabriela Dabrowski won the mixed doubles event at the French Open by defeating the German-Colombian opponents Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Robert Farah in the title clash on Thursday. The Indo-Canadian pair downed Groenefeld and Farah 2-6, 6-2, 12-10 on Philippe-Chatrier Court.
Bopanna and Dabrowski had beaten third seed Andrea Hlavackova and Roger Vasselin in straight sets to reach the summit clash.
The French Open mixed double title is Bopanna’s maiden Grand Slam crown. Bopanna has become only the fourth Indian to win a Grand Slam title after the legendary Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi and Sania Mirza.
